Family Portraits: Gittner 50th Anniverary

When I get to photograph Weddings I have the privilege to document the beginning of two lives coming together. However today I get to share photos from a day where I have been given the deep honor to celebrate one love being lived for 50 years, and going strong. Bill and Gretchen gave me the honor of celebrating their 50th anniversary with their family and taking family portraits while I was there. These two set the bar of the couple I strive to be daily, 5 decades later and still hold hands when they sit next to each other, smile at each other and pour out love with simple small gestures that most take for granted. It was really inspiring to be part of their story.  Bill & Gretchen along with their beautiful family got together at the Duke Mansion in Charlotte, NC to celebrate, have a lovely dinner, and share an evening of memories. They are such a great Godly family, Bill served most of his life as a pastor, and his leadership and example shine throughout his family. It was so fun photographing all 3 generations of this lovely family.

Just Married: Chris and Layton

The day Chris and Layton were married was a gorgeous day on the lake, and they couldn’t have picked a more beautiful venue to have their wedding than Travis Pointe at Lake Norman.  The venue sits on a peninsula surrounding by water.  Perfect for a lakeside ceremony!

Chris and Layton picked to do an intimate “first look” prior to the wedding.  Layton, a beautiful red head came behind Chris and hugged him.  As Chris turned around, he had a big smile came across his face as he saw his bride for the first time.  These interactions made for a sweet “first look”.

The wedding ceremony was just as sweet with intimate moments and songs from family member and the first communion between Chris and Layton.  As for the reception, it had by far the best wedding food I have ever tasted.  The salmon wellington was out of this world!  I’ve never had salmon that amazing since.  I could really go on for days about this salmon wellington and I often thought that I should visit the caterer again, just to order some for myself!

The dance floor was filled for the whole event.  People were dancing, eating and being merry.  It was a glorious occasion.  And while family and friends were partying on the dance floor, we had time to sneak away with the bride and groom for some nice romantic photos.  While it was still daylight, the sky was big and blue and made for perfect lakeside photos with the bride and groom.  But once the sun went down, we were also able to capture some wonderful night shots that the couple loved.  These made for perfect shots to end the night.  We loved working with Chris and Layton.  They are very down to earth and caring people that we hope to enjoy more with in the future.  We wish them all the happiness with their marriage and their future!

Bridal Portraits: Lisa

I’ve been wanting to do more bridal portraits for a while now, so I was stoked when I got the opportunity to do a styled bridal session with Impressions Bridal in Concord ,NC and The Oaks Events in Midland, NC I called my friend Lisa, who I’ve worked with in the past, and set a date for it. We picked out this gorgeous gown by Sincerity Bridal with a portrait neckline, ruched bodice and a princess skirt with a chapel train to take out to The Oaks. We were having so much fun during the shoot, I decided to toss in my Fedora to play around for a few shots. I thought it kicked up the flavor of the dress so we used it for quite a few ideas.  I loved how casual, but elegant the decor at the Oaks is. It really added to a fun day. I hope to shoot there again soon. Maybe your wedding? 😉

Featured Wedding: Chris and Kaleigh

Their Wedding is finally on the blog! Remember Chris & Kaleigh? our awesome duo of first responders? If not, go check out their engagement session, and you’ll see why I’m so excited about their wedding. Everything was lovely. Kaleigh made me smile when she paired up a lovely princess wedding gown with a pair of white Toms. She just looked marvelous. The sky was bright, and everyone was dressed in their best and had smiles on their faces. The flowers were beautiful. Poppies Floral did a magnificent job creating beautiful arrangements of purple and white decorations.

And then it started raining.

I have to be honest with you, for a brief moment I stressed out, but then I remembered that I have awesome couples. I went back into the bride’s room and Kaleigh was already set on going out anyways. Everyone dug out umbrellas, we got our gear rain ready, and we made sure it wasn’t a thunderstorm (safety first).  So now it was time for our beautiful bride, Kaleigh to walk down the aisle at The Orchard House in Concord, NC. Nothing was going to stop these two, with mom and dad walking her down the aisle, the split a sea of umbrellas to meet Chris at the end of the aisle. Everyone stayed nice and close making for a really intimate ceremony. The Reception was a blast, Lots of dancing, beer can pyramids, delicious food. A beautiful launch of an amazing couple. May they have many years of happy memories ahead of them.

Family Portraits: Anavekar Family

I’d love to share with everyone a beautiful family that I’ve had the privilege of spending an afternoon and photographing. The Anavekar Family invited me to their home to photograph them to celebrate that their lovely little girl has turned one! I had a fantastic time on a beautiful afternoon capturing them just being themselves and having fun as a family. I love these people and hope to have the repeated privilege of photographing them again one day.
